Question on threading barrel with small OD

    Hi all,

I have a client that is wanting their rifle threaded to run an Ultra 9, but based on the specs I'm not sure anything can be done.

He has a Browning X-Bolt in 300 WSM 23" barrel. The OD at the muzzle is only .604"

That looks like it might not be able to be threaded safely...could only do 1/2-28 but that won't work for 300WSM I wouldn't think lol. Could a thread adapter be used over the 1/2-28 if it was permanently attached?

Cutting the barrel down is an option, but to get to where the OD would be large enough for 9/16-24 would make the barrel 16" or so. Is that too short for 300WSM on an Ultra 9?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

1/2 is too small for .30 cal; not enough wall thickness left.

We have a solution for muzzle OD's down to about 0.565" that uses the muzzle and an internal brake shoulder, 9/16-24 threads. The only catch is that we have to install it here at TBAC to make sure alignment is correct. Please inquire with our front desk if you're interested.

Thanks. So would this solution make the can a direct thread or CB attachment?

It would be for mounting the CB brake for the CB mount version
