Is this rifle good for the job?

I am new to long range shooting and don't have a lot of money to throw around. I have no intentions on ever shooting in any competitions I just want to hear the bullet smack the metal at 1000 yards. With that said my local gun shop has a sale for the t/c venture. I am considering going tomorrow to buy one in 7mm rem mag. Is this a good option for shooting long range?

I don't have any personal experience with that rifle, sorry!

Generally the best "accuracy for the buck" come from Savage or the Ruger RPR

    You'll do fine.
Fabulous design in both rifle and cartridge.
    I commend your good taste.
