West Texas Marksmen Precision Rifle

    HI Folks,
    New here but we are putting on a precision rifle match & series out in West Texas. If you have any questions you can call Dale at the number down the bottom or post them here, I'll try to answer.

    West Texas Marksmen –2012

    Precision Rifle Series
    FEBRUARY 25
    th SIGN – UP – 9:30 A.M. TEXAS TIME ACTION STARTS – 10 A.M.

    6 Stages spread over 1 mile of easy trail
    o
    Each stage will have 6 steel targets that will range from 150 yds. to 600+ yds. All targets known distances.
    o
    3 minutes per stage to engage all targets
    o
    Each target will be engaged with 1 shot only
    o
    No make-up or sighter shot allowed

     Score is total number of targets hit

     Targets range in size from 4" to a full IDPA target.

     Match Fee $30, plaque awarded to winner(s) of each match

     Equipment Needed:

    Center Fire Rifle – 22 cal up to 300 mag. - 3200 fps max.
    o
    Bi-pod and rear bag allowed

    o
    36 match or hunting bullets, no steel armor piercing or tracer bullets
    o
    A sling for carrying rifle muzzle up or down
    o
    Small backpack to carry ammo, rear bag, water and snacks
    o
    Please bring binoculars to help spot shots

     Location:

    From Hobbs N.M. – East on 62/180 - 14 miles. Gate on North side of Hwy, across from park with large trees.

    o
    From Seminole Tx. – West on 62/180 - 16 miles, 1 mile past Oasis Gin Sign. Gate on North side of Hwy.

    That would be cool. Sounds like a long drive, Ray.
    This match is a "smaller" copy of the monthly Raton match. We hope to keep building on the match & building some skills in the process. Hopefully we can encourage some folks down this way to get on up to Raton & shoot that match after they realize how fun & challenging this type of shooting is.

    Well, we had a great time. 40 shooters showed up for some very challenging shooting. We had some pretty good winds that day but still had a great turnout. It is interesting how wind affects a bullet's flight. First place hit 30 of 36! Way to go Aaron!

    Next Precision rifle is April 21st. Same time, same place. :) Y'all come if you can!
