My teammate and I will be participating in our first SAC this year.

I thought it would be helpful if there was a central location where participants could ask questions and share advice about preparing for the 2013 Sniper Adventure Challenge.

This thread could cover gear, land nav, hydration, caloric management, shooting drills, physical/mental training, logistics...pretty much anything to do with preparing for the SAC.

I wanted to toss this out there to see if there was any interest.

In light of the fact that the SAC is in NM this year-- in July, I'll start with water capacity.

How much water should I plan on having in my pack? Am I OK with just (1) 3L bladder, or would it be more prudent to carry (2) 2L bladders? Maybe (2) 3L bladders? I'm running the Eberlestock G2M, and I'm trying to keep my AUW as low as possible.

I realize that the weight will drop as the water is depleted, but I don't know how far/long it is between water stations. I also realize different people have different water needs. I'm just looking for a baseline.

Although nobody knows exactly what to expect, based on last year, I'd recommend more than you think you'll need. I think it's going to be damn hot.

Every stop we loaded a 3L bladder each and multiple bottles. Depending on how I get everything situated, 2 bladders is a real possibility. The bottles were kinda a pain in the ass.
